Fjord + Summit
Fjord + Summit is a collection made during a solo 100-kilometer traverse of the West Lofoten Islands in Norway — six days on foot across some of the most arresting alpine terrain on earth. The work moves between two modes: sweeping color panoramas that capture the almost surreal breadth of Lofoten's landscape, where granite walls drop to white sand beaches and turquoise fjords stretch to jagged ridgelines, and quieter black and white images that attend to the details — a single fern, a streak of granite, a shadow that offers the mind a moment of rest. Scott Rinckenberger made this work alone, in perpetual summer daylight, and these images carry both the overwhelm and the stillness of that experience. Read Scott's full artist statement →
