Volcano Season
Volcano Season is a black and white collection made on the flanks of Washington's five great volcanoes — Rainier, Baker, Glacier Peak, St. Helens, and Adams — during the brief, electric window each spring when the snowpack ripens into perfect corn and the mountains open themselves to those willing to earn the turns. These images capture what only the early-morning climber sees: endless ridgelines unfolding to the horizon, glaciers revealing their slow-motion geometry, and the singular sensation of skiing thousands of vertical feet on a surface smoother than anything a resort can offer. Equal parts obsession and pilgrimage, this is Scott Rinckenberger's love letter to the landscapes, the light, and the snow that keep calling him back. Read Scott's full artist statement →
