Arbor + Nix

Arbor + Nix — Latin for tree and snow — is a collection made in the Snoqualmie Mountains during winter, where the two are inextricably linked. The snows here are not average: atmospheric rivers clash with arctic air at the Pass, storms bury the landscape under feet of snow, and the trees stand through all of it — blizzards, deep freezes, avalanches — for generations, anchoring the snowpack and radiating a quiet, rooted strength that Scott Rinckenberger has spent decades learning to receive. These images find the beauty in that relationship: snow as canvas, trees as subject, and the winter landscape as something worth stopping for, putting your arms around, and honoring before moving on.
