Terrestrial Tapestries

Terrestrial Tapestries is a collection of large-format macro photographs made on the forest floor of the Snoqualmie Valley — shot on hands and knees, in natural light, at a scale most people never stop to see. Each spring, the understory of a Pacific Northwest forest erupts from dormancy in an explosion of green and intricate form, and Scott Rinckenberger spent years learning to look down instead of up, finding in these inches-high wonders a complexity that rivals anything in the high mountains. Printed large and hung at eye level, these images bring the forest floor inside — and ask the viewer to consider what has always been underfoot. Read Scott's full artist statement →
