There is not a person among us who hasn’t pointed a camera at a vast landscape or scene of massive scale and felt the limitations of the camera’s point of view. Compound that with the lack of significant detail when shooting with wide angle lenses, and you have a recipe for disappointment. Some of us have taken to creating composite images made up of tens or hundreds of individual frames, resulting in finished files which offer vast fields of view and, upon close inspection, revealing immense detail under nearly microscopic viewing conditions. Though better viewed when printed at mural sizes and displayed with care, I hope this tour on the computer screen will give you some sense for these grand moments in these vast landscapes.
