A half mile trail leading from the upper to the lower Snoqualmie Falls Park passes a handful of iconic nurse stumps. Significant traffic and heavy handling by Falls visitors has undermined much of the underlying stump, resulting in a partially unsupported root system for the hemlock trees growing on top. These fragile structures are best observed without touching.
